This letter was written to Miss. Campbell by Richard thanking her for eclosing special prints for the magic lantern slide and other copies of her wonderful study of Abdul Baha. He congratulates her on a great masterpiece. At the bottom of this letter is response to Richard, Capt. Richard. She is requesting the use of her portrait of Abdul Baha.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
